Guildford Borough Council has chosen Unit4’s cloud ERP platform to support a redesign of how the Council provides services as part of its Future Guildford transformation initiative.
Future Guildford is a programme designed to transform and improve the whole Council. It includes the modernisation of IT systems and processes, and the use of technology to develop an environment that supports its people as well as a culture that readily adapts and changes to address the opportunities and challenges it faces. As customer expectations have changed, the Council also wants to improve service delivery and customer care, increase customer self-service capabilities and explore new commercial opportunities.
Designed for people-led services organisations, Unit4 Business World is a highly intuitive, functionally rich ERP platform, which is integrating the Council’s front and back office solutions. It consolidates multiple finance, HR, Income Management business systems and 20+ external spreadsheets and databases to give a unified view of the organisation, its people and services. Given its ease of use, the Council can view reports in real time and in formats that suit their needs, as well as allowing them to quickly and accurately analyse performance against key objectives. This supports the self-service culture Guildford Borough Council is looking to embed across all its operations and services as it seeks to boost productivity, freeing up employees to focus on more meaningful and interesting work and improving citizen engagement.
Guildford Borough Council was also impressed with Unit4’s proven track record of underpinning council-wide transformation programmes. These elements combined with Unit4’s approach to working with expert implementation partners such as Embridge Consulting Ltd to deliver project excellence and industry best practice, proved the perfect approach for this complex transformation programme.
Future Guildford is based on management consultancy Ignite’s proven Operating Model Blueprint approach for Local Government Transformation. Working in close collaboration, the Council, Ignite, Unit4 and Embridge Consulting have established a partnership-led way of working and a strong team culture to help ensure best practice processes and project methodologies are employed throughout the project lifecycle.
‘’A key element of our approach is investment in our information technology infrastructure,’’ said Claire Morris, Director of Finance at Guildford Borough Council. ‘’Unit4 Business World is helping us to rationalise our technology, streamlining and automating systems and processes to transform the way we work and the services we offer. We believe it will dramatically improve visibility, clarity and consistency across our financials and budgeting, so that we capitalise on new commercial and income generating opportunities.’’
‘’Our work with Guildford Borough Council further cements our long-standing position as the market leader for ERP solutions to UK Local Government and we are proud to be part of such a transformative project,’’ said Mark Gibbison, Global Head of Public Sector at Unit4. ‘’It is great to know our solutions areconnecting, informing, and engaging Guildford Borough Council’s teams and stakeholders effectively and efficiently.’’
